Nikos Patselis started the discussion “The story of Jumaa Alo, a 52-year-old Syrian refugee from the town of Afrin” in the group Global Citizenship Education on Unite IT: The e-Inclusion Network in Europe.
“Everyone greets us with a smile and this helps not to feel like a stranger in a new country” says Jumaa Alo, a 52-year-old Syrian refugee from the town of Afrin, whose family was amongst the first group of refugees that arrived at Agia Eleni, a new facility in Western Greece. Agia Eleni was renovated by UNHCR, with funding by the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid, and transformed into a self-contained accommodation model, with capacity for about 500 people.”
